Couples therapy can be a powerful way of working on issues of how you attach to others, how you let people in, how vulnerable you let yourself be with an intimate other and how well you communicate your needs. It’s best to start working on these issues when you notice you and your partner are stuck in patterns that don’t work, when you realize you’re getting caught in certain impasses over and over, when you feel disconnected to each other and don’t know how to reconnect or when you’re fighting and not feeling heard.

I use mindfulness and body awareness to slow you down so you can feel into the reactive states that are fueling the problems in the relationship. I help you listen to each other with respect and empathy and teach communication skills. I’m particularly interested in working with couples that have differing levels of privilege in race, class, sex or gender conformity to help learn to deal compassionately and honestly with the power dynamics that impact trust, vulnerability and intimacy.
